Zoopla launches proven lead-generating, online search experience for new homes market

  • Test phase saw 43% uplift in conversions during beta phase

  • Zoopla will be the first whole of market portal to offer a development-led search function

  • The launch is the latest in a series of improvements to make Zoopla the preferred choice for new homes buyers

Zoopla, the UK’s most comprehensive property website, has launched an innovative, new homes search experience, making it the first whole of market portal to provide a development-led search function. The move is the latest in a series of improvements by Zoopla to make the property portal the preferred choice for new build house hunters, by making their searches easier and more efficient.

Delivering improved lead quality, heightened brand exposure and profiling for new build listings by housebuilders and developers, the upgrades will also enhance the homebuyer’s experience and drive engagement amongst target audiences. The online improvements are set to deliver a significant increase in high quality applicant leads, with the beta testing phase recording a 43% uplift in conversion rates.

The streamlined search experience will equip homebuyers with a host of easily accessible information about each new build development in a digestible format, complete with image carousel and floorplan icon – both accessible without clicking into the individual listing.

Building on the search function of the former webpage, the renewed search experience will facilitate a development-led overview, enabling housebuilders to promote multiple properties, as well as the lifestyle credentials and amenities of each development.

The new functionality will include:

  • Development listings: the new search tool enables the grouping of development sites into a specific development listing. This will allow users to click through to each development for further detail and properties available.

  • A simple search experience: added search functionality for a development by location.

  • Brand exposure: Dual branding for both house builders and developments help to drive brand prominence and recognition. This will be supported by the ability to tailor development listings to ensure the most relevant and enticing information is communicated to homebuyers.

  • New design: The fresh, new design will feature prominent, visual imagery that encourages greater user engagement. Third party advertising has been removed to create a clean, uncluttered feel that is focused on showcasing the listings.

  • Help to Buy: To enable greater understanding of Help to Buy and how it can help buyers with affordability, development listings will display the Help to Buy logo if the scheme is available, while each listing will surface the minimum deposit required.

  • Multiple enquiry touch points: A greater number of easy to locate contact points have been added to support the conversion of leads to housebuilders and developers

David Wascha, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Zoopla, comments: “Our launch of the revised new homes search experience underlines our commitment to providing the very best service to housebuilders and developers. It is critical that we prioritise their needs and the needs of homebuyers, and that we pivot our approach to deliver maximum return on investment for them. The result is an intuitive search-function, that is easy to navigate, and offers a holistic customer experience.

“The test phase of the enhanced search function was incredibly promising, and with conversions up by 43%, the value-add speaks for itself. As a leading digital innovator, we will continue investing heavily in the look, feel and experience of our portal, improving the experience, while enhancing use-value amongst our customers.

“At the start of the year, we announced a multi-million pound investment into product innovation, and with new homes remaining a central focus of our 2020 strategy, we look forward to announcing further developments in the near future.”
