Tafeldruiven, amandelen en slagroenten worden voornamelijk in de Hondon-streek verbouwd, maar je zult hier ook veel andere wortelgewassen en vruchten zien groeien, zoals deze vruchtbare en zonnige vallei. Hondon de Las Nieves betekent letterlijk 'kloof van de sneeuw' maar niet na het weer is het genoemd naar de loyaliteit van het dorp aan hun beschermheer "De Maagd van de Sneeuw". Deze religieuze beeltenis en de plaatselijke kerken vormen de kern van het dorpsleven. De 'Maagd' heeft haar eigen feest aan haar opgedragen.
