Jrr Tolkien fans will especially love Moreton-in-Marsh - it's said that the town was one of the inspirations for many scenes in Lord of the Rings. The Prancing Pony in Tolkien's town of Bree is believed to be based on the local Bell Inn, and indeed the similarities are undeniable. The area is also home to the Four Shire Stone, a 9-foot high pillar made from Cotswold stone. It's said that this stone was the inspiration for Tolkien's Three-Farthing Stone as featured in the Shire. Hobbits or no hobbits, Moreton-in-Marsh is a great place to be!
