Opened in 1863 as part of the world's first underground railway, Farringdon station is famous for being one of the oldest surviving underground stations in the world.

University College London is based here, attracting students to the area, and the nearby Barbican Arts Centre hosts theatrical and classical music performances, as well as blockbuster movies and art house films at its cinema.
