Your guide to moving to Enfield
Why Enfield is a good place to live
Enfield is the perfect place for mixing the hustle and bustle of city living with calmer countryside vibes.
With Epping Forest on its doorstep, this northern-most London borough has green spaces galore and is popular with families.
Forty Hall Estate, a beautiful manor house with large gardens, Capel Manor Gardens, featuring over 40 colourful gardens across 30 acres and Myddelton Gardens, a restored botanist's gardens with a carp lake, Victorian glasshouse, visitor centre museum and cafe are just some of the lovely green spaces to enjoy in Enfield.
Every Thursday to Saturday, Enfield Market Place in the centre of town hosts stalls selling homemade, handmade and specialist treats alongside household staples.
Over at The Palace shopping centre, you'll find high street faves like H&M, M&S, Next and River Island, while there are plenty of independent stores for something a little bit different in the town centre.
Foodies can enjoy a whole range of cuisines at every price level in Enfield. At the top end of the market, Marcus Kitchen and Bar, Inn on the Park Cookhouse and Pub, Saathi and Zaza all come highly recommended.
Or for coffee, brunch and lunch, head to The Old Shutter Cafe & Bistro, the Olive Tree Cafe or Bonito Cafe.
What's Enfield famous for?
Some very talented people came from Enfield, including Amy Winehouse, Adele, Dusty Springfield, Laura Haddock, Ray Winstone and Dexter Fletcher.
The east of Enfield, adjacent to the River Lea, is renowned for its industrial heritage. The Royal Small Arms Factory at Enfield Lock produced the famous Enfield rifles.
There's more: the world's first solid state circuitry colour TVs were made here by Ferguson, as were the first mass-produced dishwashers, made by Hotpoint.
Did you know? The name Enfield comes from the old English word: Ēanafeld, which literally means 'open land belonging to a man called Ēana'.
