“underhill” Bardsea Green. Ulverston. LA12 0QX

“Underhill” is a tastefully modernised, and improved, double-fronted former Farmhouse set in the most tranquil and peaceful settings. It is fully “in the country” yet only a couple of miles from the charming Market Town of Ulverston, about 10 miles, or so, from Barrow in Furness (the world centre of the building of Nuclear Submarines) and a mere ten minute drive to the boundary of the fabulous Lake District National Park. Nearby is the shoreline of Morecambe Bay, the wonderful Ulverston Golf Course, as well as Birkrigg Common with its Druid’s Circle.

“Underhill” has a cosy main Lounge, a large “aga” Kitchen/Dining room/ Lounge area, a separate Utility Room and a small Sun Room area, as well as three Bedrooms ( all “doubles”) the Master being en suite and a further 4 Bathrooms. Outside there are absolutely gorgeous Gardens, a Garage and a parking area.

A picture paints a thousand words, so please examine the Picture Gallery to see for yourself what a lovely property “Underhill” is, then give me a call on to arrange a Viewing. I feel sure that you will not be disappointed!

“Underhill” is Tickety Boo!

Notes on Bardsea
Bardsea, or Berretseige, is mentioned in the Domesday Book as one of the townships forming the Manor of Hougun held by Earl Tostig.[1] Also once part of the medieval manor of Muchland.
Bardsea was once a small farming and fishing village well into the 19th century. It was accessed mainly by crossing the treacherous sands of Morecambe Bay. The church of Holy Trinity was consecrated in 1853. Previously the area had been included within the parish of Urswick.
The area was also associated with the early Quaker movement. When founder George Fox married local landowner Margaret Fell, he took over Swarthmoor Hall and much of the land round Bardsea. There is an old Quaker burial ground nearby at Sunbrick on Birkrigg Common, where Margaret Fell was reputedly buried in 1702 (one authority suggests she was interred at the burial ground at Swarthmoor, although that is contradicted by other sources). George Fox himself was buried in London.
