New-build living room packed with personality

For this living room, the owners faced the challenge of having a brand spanking new home which lacked character and personality.

Being faced with a completely blank space can be overwhelming, but not to our designers!

First off, the owners wanted to keep the living room walls neutral but wanted a little warmth, that’s where the cream shade came in.

Next, a little character and interest was added with the incorporation of shaker style panelling - to not overwhelm the space we panelled only half the wall which also made the space more dynamic.

And even though the walls stayed neutral, the décor certainly didn’t! Enter the pièce de résistance: the green sofa, which was a bold and brilliant addition that totally stole the spotlight.

The sofa is such a fun addition to the living room, creating a stunning focal point. Plus we made sure the same green shade was sprinkled within the artwork, pulling the space together.

Dramatic and cosy deep blue living room

From lilac to bold blue, this transformation is definitely worth talking about!

One major change you'll notice is the decision to block out the rear window. Why? Because the lounge is north-facing, so instead of fighting the lack of light we decided to embrace it and prioritise privacy.

Choosing a deep blue shade and bidding farewell to the window made the living room feel incredibly cosy and private, a perfect spot for unwinding.

While the colour might seem daring, it was a natural fit for the homeowners. Since the family primarily uses the living room in the evenings, the calming yet dramatic hue was just what they needed.

This long lounge also felt a little overwhelmed by space, so to tackle the spaciousness, we had a clever idea. Instead of backing the furniture against the walls, we went off the tracks and placed the sofa in the centre of the room. This not only zoned the space but also made it feel more inviting and snug.

And let's not forget the industrial and eclectic décor that ties everything together! It's these personal touches that truly make the space feel like home.

Snug Victorian lounge with bold green paint

This living room before and after comes from a total renovation where the space was stripped back to its bare foundations to reveal its hidden beauty.

We love everything about this living room, especially the décor. The mid century furniture gives a nod to the past and adds an extra charm to the space, while the abstract patterns make the room much more dynamic, bringing it into the modern day.

Here we have another north facing lounge, which was also rather small. So once again, instead of fighting the lack of space and natural light, we (you guessed it) embraced it!

Green is trendy for a reason, I mean take a look at how it made this living room space completely come alive.

The bold shade creates a cosy environment, which transforms the room from dawn til dusk: bright and breezy in the mornings, and snug as a bug in the evenings.

Our designers had a few hacks up their sleeves to make the small space feel a tad bit bigger. For instance, the painted green skirting boards and shelving made these details blend effortlessly into the walls, making the overall room feel larger.

Plus, the mirror above the fireplace isn’t just a captivating feature, it also helps to bounce the light around the room.

Dreamy neutral living room with natural flair

Nothing beats a neutral lounge that mirrors the beautiful colours of nature. And doesn’t this haven make you want to simply sit back and relax with a good book?

Now, our homeowner had a hankering for neutrals. So, to add a little interest while sticking to the palette, we decided to dot in some muted shades such as earthy pink and sage green, which emulate the colours of nature, while pairing perfectly with the warm hues.

The vast lounge had a lot of space, which made it difficult to create a cosy and relaxing atmosphere. But fear not, creating warm vibes in such a grand space is just one of our designer’s specialties.

This living room is just so swoon worthy that we had to show it off from multiple angles.

Our designers kept the furniture at the centre of the room, surrounding a large vintage rug, which created an intimate atmosphere, while allowing for traffic to easily flow through the space.

But wait: you might be wondering, with all that seating in the centre, won't the rest of the room feel a tad... empty?

Not on our watch. Wooden sideboards adorned with lamps and trinkets add a touch of warmth and personality, while walls decked out with artwork bring visual interest to every corner.

Modern lounge with shaker style panelling

It’s time to say goodbye to dated décor and hello to a lounge that's oozing with elegance and bursting with character.

An inexpensive change, which made this lounge feel like totally luxury, is the shaker style feature wall. It adds texture and interest into the space, while staying in keeping with the sleek look.

Those fresh white walls are the perfect backdrop for the deep blue sofa, which becomes the total star of the show in this space, creating contrast and a bold focal point to build the rest of the furnishing around.

We had comfort covered too, thanks to the vast rug, plush pillows and throws, which created a relaxing vibe in the midst of the modern and mid-century pieces.

And let's not forget about proportion, because in the design world, size definitely matters. From the large-scale planter to the footstool chair, everything is perfectly in sync with the grandeur of that oh-so-comfy sofa.
